The Wine
6 x 750ml bottles / 12.6% Alc/Vol / 7.5 Standard Drinks
Dawson James Pinot Noir is sourced from some of the original vines planted on the Meadowbank vineyard in the Derwent Valley. The MV6 and Pommard clone vines, planted in 1989, make them some of the most mature vines producing wine in Tasmania today. We value the grapes from these mature vines for the depth, texture and structure that they contribute.
Tasting Notes:
More than 10 years on this wine displays attractive development while retaining sweetness of fruit and vitality. The aromas of forest floor, sweet red fruits and vanilla come to the fore. Flavours are ripe with an attractive tarry note, soft tannins and cleansing acidity. Reminiscent of mature Burgundy.
Accolades:
• Museum Release
• Now drinking at its peak, complex and mature with forest floor aromas, sweet strawberry, chocolate, tar and vanillin characters. Vibrant and alive with a smooth finish.
THE VINEYARD
The Chardonnay and Pinot vineyard patches selected by Dawson James were planted in 1989. Consequently vine-age plays an important part in the development of flavour and the balance of the fruit.
